About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Assistant - Operations Specialist to join our team at Sunrise Senior Living. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • General Maintenance Duties:
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including repairs and replacements of equipment and fixtures.
    • Assist with painting and refurbishing projects to maintain a high level of aesthetic appeal.
    • Conduct routine maintenance on all community vehicles and equipment.
    • Maintain all tools and repair parts in a clean and organized manner.
  • Mechanical Systems:
    • Assist with working on heating and air conditioning systems to ensure optimal performance.
    • Assist with work on domestic water systems and pumps to prevent leaks and other issues.
    • Assist with work on refrigeration systems, motors, fans, electrical systems, and emergency generators to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Housekeeping Duties:
    • Perform carpet and hard surface floor maintenance to maintain a clean and safe environment.
    • Perform deep cleaning and resident suite 'make ready' rooms as assigned.
  • Risk Management and General Safety:
    • Partner with the community team to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
    • Practice safety procedures at all times, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and fire extinguishers.
    • Ensure cords, carts, equipment, and other hazards are always kept out of the way.
  • Resident Services:
    • Review and initialize the Daily Log and Maintenance Log to document and learn about pertinent information and actions required.
    • Practice positive resident relations and direct resident or family member feedback to the supervisor.
    • Always maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information.
Requirements
  • One (1) year maintenance and/or housekeeping experience preferred.
  • Technical school education preferred.
  • Demonstrates a general understanding of systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical and code compliance.
  • Maintains a current applicable driver's license to drive community vehicles provided with an acceptable driving record in accordance with applicable regulations and Sunrise policy.
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls outside of scheduled work hours.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication.
  • Competent in organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.
