Job Summary

We are seeking an Environmental Monitoring Specialist to join our team at Los Alamos Technical Associates. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Monitoring Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate sampling activities and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with the procurement of supplies and equipment and coordinate with the Cognizant Engineer on VOC systems.
  • Maintain and track calibration of measurement and test equipment.
  • Assist with records, training, plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs), and management assessments.
  • Evaluate data and write reports for the VOC Program.
  • Participate in quality assurance (QA) audits/surveillances of the VOC Program and other groups, including metrology.
  • Manage software as software custodian.
  • Perform sampling and analytical data verification and validation, database management, Annual Site Environmental Report (ASER) preparation and review, Semi-annual VOC Data Summary Report preparation and review coordination.
  • Coordinate sampling and schedule with the Environmental Support Group.
  • Provide Permit public-hearing testimony and support as needed, as well as implement Program changes.
Requirements
  • B.S degree in Science related field, with 0-2 years of experience or
  • Associates degree in with four (4) years of experience or
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency with (8) years of relevant environmental experience is required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Attention to detail and initiative is required.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be highly motivated.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
