Position Summary:
The Level II Competent Registered Nurse is proficient in delivering clinical care to patients. This role requires collaboration with the healthcare team to enhance the quality of care within the designated clinical area by utilizing research and applying evidence-based practices. The Level II Registered Nurse is accountable for providing comprehensive, continuous, and patient-centered care for a specific group of patients. The RN will oversee patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate nursing care, ensuring oversight of both licensed and unlicensed personnel in assigned tasks through the nursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Engage patients, families, and health team members in care processes, including education and discharge planning.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate care plans and relevant information with other healthcare team members.
  • Assist leadership in establishing standards of excellence for patient care and contribute to the enhancement of patient care services.
  • Participate in and integrate performance improvement initiatives into care delivery and engage in quality improvement activities.
  • Support the orientation of new staff members, both permanent and temporary.
  • Serve as a resource for hospital and departmental policies and procedures for nursing staff and other healthcare team members.
  • Contribute to daily operational activities to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Provide feedback to the Nurse Manager regarding unit requirements.
  • Engage in unit, departmental, and hospital committees to develop nursing and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an operating room setting required; or enrollment in the MWHC integrative didactic program followed by a clinical preceptorship.
  • Valid RN License from Virginia or a reciprocal compact state is required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • AHA BLS Provider CPR certification is required upon hire.
  • NIHSS (Bluecloud) certification is required within 90 days.
