Position Overview:
The Level II Competent Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality care to patients. This role requires collaboration with the healthcare team to enhance care quality in the assigned clinical area by utilizing research and implementing evidence-based practices.
The Level II Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering total, continuous, and patient-centered care for a designated group of patients.
The RN will utilize the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation to ensure effective patient care.
Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 for external applicants.
Practice Standards for a Level II Registered Nurse:
In accordance with the MWHC Practice Standards, a Level II Registered Nurse is expected to excel in the following areas:

4. New Knowledge, Innovations, and Improvement Practice Standards
Key Responsibilities:
As a Competent Registered Nurse, your essential functions will include:
- Directing and coordinating nursing care, overseeing both licensed and unlicensed personnel in assigned tasks, utilizing the nursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Coordinating the involvement of patients, families, and healthcare team members in care, including education and discharge planning.
- Communicating and coordinating the care plan and relevant information with other healthcare professionals.
- Assisting leadership in defining excellence standards for patient care and participating in the enhancement of care services.
- Engaging in performance improvement initiatives and quality enhancement activities.
- Participating in the orientation of new staff members.
- Serving as a resource for hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Contributing to daily operational activities to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Providing feedback to the Nurse Manager regarding unit needs.
- Participating in committees for the development of nursing and hospital policies.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
1. Graduation from an accredited nursing program with experience as a Registered Nurse.
2. A valid RN License from Virginia or a reciprocal compact state.
3. A BSN is preferred.
4. AHA BLS Provider CPR certification required upon hire.
5. NIHSS (Bluecloud) certification required within 90 days.
For those entering the External Temporary RN Program:
If the job profile necessitates BLS, ACLS, PALS, or NRP, these certifications are required upon hire. If CPI, ONS, or NIHSS are required, they must be obtained within 30 days. For TNCC or ENPC, certification is required within 30 days or by the next available course.
