Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing ultrasound examinations on patients under the general supervision of the Medical Director of Imaging Services. You will operate ultrasound equipment to produce images of the body, including abdominal, breast, OB/GYN, vascular, small parts, and needle guidance. Your work will include related tasks that directly support the delivery of care.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate competence to perform all ultrasound procedures as outlined in the department policy and procedure manual.
• Communicate openly with the Radiologist to determine optimal ultrasound imaging as it pertains to the unique needs of the patient.
• Assist the Radiologist with minimally invasive procedures.
• Accurately present patient studies for interpretation, including pertinent clinical history, physician's order, demographics, and other data necessary to interpret the exam.
• Participate in a daily processor quality control program to ensure consistency in imaging results.
• Communicate equipment issues to management in a timely manner for service resolution.
• Consistently use universal precautions in all patient contacts.
• Demonstrate through actions the ability to effectively use alternative methods to resolve problems as they arise.
• Regularly interface with the Radiology Information System to accurately represent procedural information.
• Effectively interact with co-workers and physician in a positive and professional manner.
• Assist with clerical support functions as needed to most efficiently process patient studies.

Requirements

• Must hold current certification as a Medical Sonographer with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
• BLS - HCP American Heart Association.
• 1-year full-time experience in a clinical ultrasound setting.
