Job Title: Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our team at Performance Contracting Group, Inc. in Ashburn, VA. As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating 3D models using Revit and coordinating with design and operations staff to ensure accurate and efficient project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend kick-off meetings to ensure understanding of project scope, requirements, and contract details.
  • Create 3D models using Revit and other software platforms.
  • Participate in BIM coordination and design meetings to ensure spatial coordination and accuracy.
  • Develop and model scopes as requested, including interior and exterior walls, ceilings, and specialty panels.
  • Coordinate with point cloud files and ensure models are spatially coordinated.
  • Elevate model and document inconsistencies to the attention of the BIM Coordinator and Design/Operations Team.
  • Perform BIM compliance checks of deliverables and QC models against project documents for discrepancies.
  • Utilize Navisworks Manage to run clash detection and identify potential issues.
  • Attend staff training to enhance staff members' knowledge and expertise of standardized software used.
  • Create and maintain project-specific content to ensure alignment with instructions, guidelines, in-house standards, and project BIM standards.
  • Actively engage with Design and Operations Team to implement best BIM/VDC practices.
  • Coordinate with BIM/VDC service providers and clients.
  • Provide design support tasks, including processing install drawings, incorporating comments, and producing details and layout files.
  • Clean, prepare, and organize CAD/Navisworks files for field use.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (Construction Management, Construction Science, Architecture, Engineering Fields, etc.) preferred.
  • 2-year technical degree or 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • 4+ years of BIM (Revit)/VDC modeling and coordination experience.
  • Proficiency with software platforms, including Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage, and BIM 360 Design/Glue.
  • Ability to present a portfolio demonstrating work in Revit and Revit Family Editor.
  • Experience with Bluebeam PDF Software.
  • Ability to understand design and document coordination.
  • Innovative and creatively minded individual looking to improve process, procedure, and construction techniques.
  • Ability to take responsibility for the outcome and results of assigned projects.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Word.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with strong work ethic and a willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as durations of independent/isolated/unsupervised environments.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate the benefits of BIM/VDC, both for internal and external purposes.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience with cleanroom, non-structural metal framing, drywall, faade systems, ceiling systems.
  • Working knowledge of Dynamo, Revit API, SketchUp, and iConstruct.
  • Local to the Washington, DC Metro area.
