Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Duke Health Integrated Practice. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect care to patients, working collaboratively with our healthcare team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and record patient data, adhering to Joint Commission, Environment of Care, and Infection Prevention guidelines.
  • Prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for procedures, providing manual assistance as required.
  • Assist with specimen collection and labeling, as instructed by RN/PA/MD.
  • Participate in teaching activities, reinforcing teaching instructed by RN and/or physician as needed.
  • Restock rooms, check patient vital signs, and clean and package surgical instruments for sterilization.
  • Run autoclave and perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
  • Participate in own professional development, maintaining required skills validation and attending educational offerings.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is strongly preferred; High School diploma or GED graduation is required.
  • Work generally requires six months of experience in the healthcare setting; education in a health-related field can be used as a substitute for the experience.
  • Must be fully certified as a Medical Assistant (AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA) within 18 months of hire.
