Job Title: Medical Professional for Melanoma Care

Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and qualified medical professional to join our melanoma team. The ideal candidate has exceptional internal medicine skills and oncology experience. They will work with a multidisciplinary team providing direct patient care services.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote and maintain high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis.
  • Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and perform thorough physical examinations.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post-treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, and treatment toxicities.
  • Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level clinical judgment, including prescribing appropriate medications.
  • Chart patient progress, maintaining detailed and accurate health records.
  • Participate in clinical research projects and understand the importance of documenting toxicities and data collection.
  • Communicate effectively among multi-disciplinary teams to support patient care.
  • Collaborate, support, and build strong relationships with supervising physicians, APP colleagues, and team members.
  • Participate in the education of patients, family members, new staff, students, and other learners.
  • See scheduled and unscheduled patients.
  • Attend program-required meetings.
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME.
  • Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics, and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies.
  • Maintain institutional requirements for compliance.

Requirements:

  • Education: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program.
  • Certification: Physician Assistant Certification or Nurse Practitioner Licensure and Certification.
  • License: Licensed in the State of North Carolina.
  • Experience: 1+ years of APP experience strongly preferred.
