Job Overview

Position Summary

The Loader Operator / Yard Personnel is accountable to the Operations Manager for the secure and effective management, loading, and storage of aggregate materials. This role also includes the maintenance and care of ready-mix plant machinery as directed by the Operations Manager, alongside ensuring cleanliness of the plant's property and surroundings.

Core Responsibilities

The Loader Operator / Yard Personnel is expected to execute all primary responsibilities and tasks in a manner that upholds a safe and healthy work environment.

Equipment Operation and Maintenance

  • Efficiently and safely operate a front-end loader to transport and load bulk aggregate materials throughout the plant.
  • Conduct and document daily inspections of equipment and plant facilities.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, which includes:
  1. Monitoring and maintaining all fluid levels as specified by the manufacturer, including water, oil, transmission, and hydraulic fluids.
  2. Checking and maintaining tire pressure.
  3. Greasing all hubs and necessary components.
  • Ensure equipment is kept clean both internally and externally.
  • Deliver necessary aggregate materials into designated hoppers or storage bins.

Site Maintenance

  • Maintain cleanliness in the Mixer Truck Washdown area and other sections of the yard, ensuring they are free from debris.
  • Clean and manage mixer truck washout pits in line with company protocols.
  • Properly handle and maintain the inventory of reclaimed washout materials.
  • Ensure general exterior yard areas and plant premises are kept clean, including:
  1. Removal of litter and debris.
  2. Emptying exterior waste receptacles.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual inspections to verify the quantity of aggregate materials stored on-site and ensure sufficient supply is available.
  • Assist with or perform maintenance and servicing of the plant as directed by the Operations Manager.
  • Monitor and report any mechanical issues related to plant equipment to the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain the stockpiles of bulk materials.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends as necessary.
  • Must have the ability to work overtime as required.
  • The Loader Operator should be a self-motivated individual capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience operating a front-end loader is mandatory.
