Job Summary:

As a Design Engineer at Knapheide Manufacturing, you will be responsible for completing assigned projects in the areas of product maintenance, product development, or technical support. This role requires strong engineering skills, including product design, stress analysis, and strength materials. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement engineering solutions that meet customer needs and improve internal metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use engineering tools to analyze designs to meet requirements for strength, functionality, ergonomics, safety, and quality.
• Complete product maintenance and product development projects as assigned.
• Define and interpret product quality requirements.
• Communicate and coordinate with suppliers where engineering input is required to develop specifications for products and/or components.
• Assist designers and drafters with required engineering expertise to complete design activities.
• Create and publish product technical data and sales literature as assigned.
• Complete layouts, prepare drawings, and write bills of material and Engineering Change Notices as required to support project schedules.
• Support cross-functional team activities.
• Support manufacturing initiatives to provide customers with quality, speed, and high-performance products while improving internal metrics.

Requirements:

• BSME or BSAE with minimum 5 years of experience in design and/or engineering.
• Strong skills in product design, stress analysis, and strength materials.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good project management and organizational skills.
• Strong PC skills and experience with 3D-CAD, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

Normal standing, bending, walking, and lifting in an office environment. Must be able to sit and work at a CAD station for several hours per day. Must be capable of doing light assembly work in an engineering lab occasionally.
