Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team at Knapheide Manufacturing. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing new products, as well as maintaining and improving existing ones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Utilize engineering tools and software to analyze and design products that meet strength, functionality, ergonomics, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Project Management: Complete product maintenance and development projects as assigned, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Quality Assurance: Define and interpret product quality requirements, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Collaboration: Communicate and coordinate with suppliers to develop specifications for products and components, as well as assist designers and drafters with engineering expertise.
  • Documentation: Create and publish product technical data and sales literature as assigned.
  • Support Functions: Assist in layouts, prepare drawings, and write bills of material and Engineering Change Notices as required to support project schedules.
  • Team Support: Participate in cross-functional team activities and support manufacturing initiatives to provide customers with quality, speed, and high-performance products.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Aerospace Engineering (BSAE) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in design and/or engineering.
  • Skills: Proficiency in product design, stress analysis, and strength materials, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Technical Skills: Strong PC skills and experience with 3D-CAD, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
Physical and Mental Requirements

Normal standing, bending, walking, and lifting in an office environment. Ability to sit and work at a CAD station for several hours per day. Occasional light assembly work in the engineering lab.
