Job Summary:

As a Design Engineer at Knapheide Manufacturing, you will be responsible for completing assigned projects in the areas of product maintenance, product development, or technical support. This role requires strong engineering skills, excellent communication, and project management abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize engineering tools to analyze designs and ensure they meet requirements for strength, functionality, ergonomics, safety, and quality.
• Complete product maintenance and product development projects as assigned, collaborating with cross-functional teams as needed.
• Define and interpret product quality requirements, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
• Communicate and coordinate with suppliers to develop specifications for products and/or components, leveraging engineering expertise to drive quality and efficiency.
• Assist designers and drafters with required engineering expertise to complete design activities, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of project results.
• Create and publish product technical data and sales literature as assigned, utilizing strong writing and communication skills.
• Complete layouts, prepare drawings, and write bills of material and Engineering Change Notices as required to support project schedules, demonstrating strong organizational and project management skills.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Aerospace Engineering (BSAE) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in design and/or engineering.
• Strong skills in product design, stress analysis, and strength materials, with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in 3D-CAD, word processing, and spreadsheet applications, with the ability to learn new software and technologies as needed.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

This role requires normal standing, bending, walking, and lifting in an office environment, with the ability to sit and work at a CAD station for several hours per day. Occasional light assembly work in the engineering lab may be required.
