Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

This role involves delivering supportive, trauma-informed, and empowerment services to program participants and their families. The counselor will coordinate activities and events aimed at fostering community engagement while assisting homeless youth and their families in achieving sustainable independence. Direct services will be provided to individuals of various ages, following the organization’s service delivery standards across diverse settings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Offer crisis intervention, information, referrals, advocacy, and solution-focused decision-making for children, youth, and families as required;
  • Educate clients about available community services and facilitate referrals, ensuring the effective provision of services;
  • Develop and maintain assessments, service plans, and coordination for participants, utilizing a strengths-based approach;
  • Conduct life skills coaching and facilitate educational and support groups as assigned;
  • Implement interventions that foster positive relationships among participants, their families, and the broader community;
  • Collaborate with community partners to establish and execute joint protocols in compliance with regulations;
  • Assist in planning and participating in activities and events that promote community building and individual empowerment;
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of client records, reports, and statistical information;
  • Provide comprehensive information regarding client outcomes and services promptly.
  • Facilitate ongoing training for program staff and community partners on specialized topics as needed;
  • Review service plans and offer casework support to direct service staff;
  • Identify and resolve challenges, collaborating with program staff to enhance service quality;
  • Exhibit resourcefulness and adaptability in meeting the training and development needs of staff;
  • Maintain regular communication with employees, supervisors, and community partners regarding pertinent information;
  • Attend and facilitate internal and external meetings as assigned;
  • Perform all duties in compliance with funding requirements and relevant regulations;
  • Assume a leadership role, representing the organization to community partners and overseeing specific program functions;
  • Provide on-call crisis intervention and support to staff as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Effective oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrating motivation, resourcefulness, organization, and adaptability;
  • Proven ability to engage with others in a supportive, non-judgmental manner, serving as a positive role model;
  • Collaborative planning skills with a creative approach;
  • Professionalism, sound judgment, and flexibility are essential;
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel and client transportation;
  • Good physical and mental health to fulfill job responsibilities.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling from an accredited institution, with at least one year of experience working with youth and families.
