Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Office Assistant to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing administrative support to our healthcare team, ensuring the smooth operation of our medical offices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer para-professional nursing care, including preparing patients for physicians, administering and recording laboratory tests, and assisting with the coordination of patient needs.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to implement plans for patient care, including recording patient history for medical staff review.
  • Perform measurement and screening procedures, such as height, weight, blood pressure, and temperature checks, and record findings on patient charts.
  • Collect blood and urine specimens, and assist physicians and nurses with special procedures and examinations.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms, stock supplies, and ensure par levels are maintained.
  • Perform a variety of other functions, including maintaining medical records, processing insurance forms, and preparing financial records.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a six-month to one-year course in an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
  • Prior experience and demonstrated competence as a medical assistant preferred.
  • Typing 30 wpm required.
  • Basic mathematical aptitude desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
