About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automotive Systems Engineer to join our team at VW Credit. As a key member of our Autonomous Mobility team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing safety-critical systems for our autonomous vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and analyze relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance with US public road operations.
  • Derive driving behavior functional requirements and parameters for US operations, collaborating with global teams to ensure consistency.
  • Create functional scenarios associated with behavior requirements applicable to US operations, working closely with test teams to establish pass/fail criteria.
  • Establish triggering conditions for SOTIF scenarios and safety acceptance criteria for US deployment, evaluating the sufficiency of the product Safety Assurance Case.
  • Develop safety plans and reports targeted for external stakeholders, including business partners, government agencies, and regulators.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in a quality-focused role in the development of complex, software-controlled systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong technical leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-priority assignments efficiently, with a strong desire to learn new skills related to technology and software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong record working in the field of system safety as it relates to hardware, software, and system-level design.
  • Expertise with the application of ISO 21448 and/or safety-critical system design best practices for analysis of functional performance limitations or insufficiencies.
  • Strong understanding of evaluation of autonomous systems, including pass/fail criteria, metrics, requirements, and more.
  • Experience in developing and/or testing autonomous systems, automotive engineering experience, and expertise with modern systems engineering requirements management practices.
