Role Summary:
  • The Counselor (Adoption Support, Family Therapist) will assess and deliver voluntary services to families in Central Illinois formed through adoption and subsidized guardianship. Responsibilities include conducting in-home assessments, providing crisis intervention, therapeutic support, education, training, support groups, advocacy, and referrals to community resources.
  • WORK SCHEDULE: Flexible hours, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday; availability for some evenings is required to accommodate client needs.
  • Compensation is based on experience and licensure/certifications.
  • Starting salary for unlicensed, recent Master's graduates or new therapists: $53,000+
  • Starting salary for licensed therapists: $57,000+
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment: Conduct Mental Health Assessments that comply with COA standards.
  • Service/Treatment Planning: Collaborate with client families to develop service and treatment plans that strengthen and support families and focus on the child(ren). All Individualized Treatment Plans must adhere to Medicaid Rule 132 and COA standards.
  • Mentoring, Advocacy, Support, and Education: Provide mentoring, advocacy, support, and education in line with service goals to protect children, preserve families, and enhance the mental health of children and families.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Deliver appropriate therapeutic interventions to support the focus child(ren) and their families, enhancing their overall functioning.
  • Record Keeping: Ensure documentation meets agency and COA requirements for timeliness, completeness, and accuracy.
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in counseling, social work, or a related field is required.
  • Availability for some evenings and weekends, and willingness to travel to meet clients in their homes.
  • LCPC, LCSW, or LMFT licensure is preferred but not mandatory; candidates should be willing to pursue licensure during employment.
  • Valid Driver's License with appropriate insurance and a clean driving record.
