Position Summary
The role involves overseeing the provision of intricate medical information pertaining to designated therapeutic areas and acting as a key liaison with medical information teams across AbbVie’s global regions and affiliates to ensure alignment with local and regional requirements. This encompasses the development, upkeep, and application of product and disease state expertise to address escalated medical inquiries from affiliates and medical information call center personnel, delivering training on product and medical information processes to affiliate stakeholders, and managing the creation, approval, and maintenance of global and region-specific medical core content documents utilized for product inquiries from both internal and external customers, including healthcare professionals and consumers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and precise development of global core content, summarizing clinical guidelines, and aiding in the formulation and approval of Data on File in compliance with established policies and standards. Guarantee that content conveys a clear and appropriate medical message while ensuring adherence to regulatory and corporate requirements.
- Represent AbbVie Medical Information at significant global and scientific conferences, collaborating cross-functionally to design and authorize logistics for Medical Information Booths as necessary.
- Evaluate data critically and maintain a comprehensive understanding of product knowledge, associated disease states, treatment guidelines, labeling, and relevant internal data for the assigned therapeutic area.
- Actively participate as a member of Global and/or Area/Local Medical Affairs and/or commercial teams for products of moderate to complex scope, including new indications or products, serving as the GMI team lead for new product launches.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Brand Teams, Hub management, Global/Regional TA Leads, Area/Regional medical) to ensure the creation of pertinent core content that meets customer needs.
- Contribute to innovative solutions for delivering medical information to customers through unique channels (e.g., SMS, video, podcast), demonstrating awareness of the needs of both internal and external customers.
- Assist in the development of AMCP dossiers, creating and reviewing content as necessary.
- Critically assess literature, interpret complex data, and tailor the delivery of information to diverse audiences, serving as a role model and mentor to peers.
- Identify global medical information insights based on inquiries and collaborate with cross-functional teams to pinpoint scientific gaps and strategic solutions.
- Support the development and delivery of core content and general medical information training.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, PA, Pharmacy, PhD in Health Sciences, or MD/DO program. An advanced degree is preferred. Licensure for professional practice is required where applicable.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or 6 years in a healthcare-related field, with a substantial understanding of relevant therapeutic areas and a basic comprehension of how medical information content supports AbbVie’s business objectives. A Drug Information residency is preferred.
- Proven ability to coordinate and lead multidisciplinary and cross-divisional meetings, with excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Capability to analyze and anticipate business needs to identify opportunities, along with the ability to develop and implement therapeutic team-level strategies, demonstrating cultural sensitivity.
- Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape of the pharmaceutical industry.
- Exemplary teamwork attributes, with a strong capacity for informal leadership, including mentoring and peer coaching.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English; knowledge of a second language is advantageous.
- Experience in providing innovative solutions for the delivery of medical information is desirable.
- Familiarity with HEOR and Real World Data is a plus.
- Maintains expert knowledge of product information, labeling, and relevant data, with the ability to apply knowledge across multiple therapeutic areas. Solid clinical understanding of disease states and treatment implications, along with a strong grasp of clinical trial methodology and statistical concepts.
