Job Title: Senior Database Engineer

As a Senior Database Engineer at Array, you'll be a hands-on technical leader who focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing our backend database systems. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams such as engineering, product, UX, and senior leadership to ensure the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of our data systems. You'll bring deep expertise in database management and architecture, focusing on SQL, Postgres, and integrating AI-driven solutions to enhance performance and functionality.

This role is pivotal in leading key technical initiatives, mentoring peers, and aligning our data infrastructure with business goals. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to participate in a 90-day evaluation period, typically structured as a 1099 or C2C contract, though full-time employment can be arranged if needed. During this period, you'll be expected to work on complex tasks with some ambiguity, utilize AI tools to enhance efficiency, and collaborate with the CEO, product managers, and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable and efficient database systems.
  • Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data infrastructure with business goals.
  • Lead technical initiatives and mentor junior developers.
  • Utilize AI tools to automate tasks and improve database efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Experience designing and building database systems from the ground up and scaling them to support production users.
  • Strong understanding of database performance tuning, optimization, and AI-assisted automation.
  • Deep expertise in PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server development and architecture.
  • Track record of building and maintaining reliable backend infrastructure in an API-driven environment.
  • Strong opinions on best practices in database management, with the ability to mentor and influence others.
