Job Title: Sr. Tool Designer

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Tool Designer to join our team. As a Sr. Tool Designer, you will be responsible for conceiving, designing, and prototyping tooling hardware in the analog and digital domains.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop tooling hardware, including mechanical and electrical components, to meet specific requirements and specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure tooling meets design specifications and manufacturing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain tooling designs, including 2D and 3D drawings, bills of materials, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide input on tooling design improvements.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and quality control procedures.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in tool design and development, with a focus on mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in CAD software, including SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with 3D printing and additive manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices.
