We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team at The University of Kansas Health System. As a key member of our patient access team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our patients and visitors, ensuring accurate and timely registration and scheduling of appointments, and maintaining accurate patient demographic and insurance information.
Responsibilities- Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
- Verify patient information and ensure accurate completion of necessary paperwork.
- Obtain copies of insurance cards and driver's licenses, and enter/update patient demographic and insurance information in our computer system.
- Compile and maintain all forms and documents in the patient's medical record.
- Maintain appointment scheduling systems, including scheduling, coordinating, and adjusting patient appointments as needed.
- Collect patient co-pays and outstanding account balances.
- Prepare office batches and balance patient payments received at the end of each workday.
- Serve as a liaison between patients and medical support staff.
- Communicate with insurance companies for necessary information regarding referral information and/or assist patients with scheduling specialist appointments and/or testing.
- Check out patients, providing visit-specific information and scheduling future appointments.
- Maintain a clean and orderly front desk and waiting area.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Previous related experience preferred.
- Previous healthcare experience a plus.
