Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee communication with fellow supervisors to coordinate maintenance and repair tasks across process areas, prioritizing cost-effectiveness.
  • Supervise plant maintenance personnel, ensuring they are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated to execute the maintenance program safely, promptly, and within budgetary constraints.
  • Develop, maintain, and update operational and training standards for the maintenance department and its technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Regularly monitor the operation of plant equipment and systems, proactively identifying and addressing issues to minimize unplanned downtime and capitalize on opportunities for enhancement.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on maintenance shop equipment as necessary to uphold operational efficiency.
  • Establish and manage tracking systems for work orders, spare parts, and equipment maintenance history to optimize maintenance processes and expenditures.
  • Initiate and oversee plant equipment projects aimed at improving efficiency and reducing operational costs, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures within the maintenance department, actively enforcing safety protocols and reviewing safety records to maintain maximum safety standards for all maintenance technicians.
  • Track the utilization and inventory of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment, initiating reordering when necessary to maintain operational readiness.
Requirements:
  • High school education or GED required.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work on your feet on a concrete floor for the entire shift.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions:

The primary work environment is within a steel manufacturing facility, which may include:

  • Exposure to moving machinery, heavy equipment, and sharp objects.
  • Work areas may be subject to fluctuating temperatures, including hot and cold conditions, dependent on the season.
  • Loud noise from machinery and equipment operation.
  • The presence of dust, debris, and airborne particles typical of an industrial setting.
Supervision and Co-Workers:

Team member is responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Consequences of Not Performing Essential Functions:

Supervision and/or co-worker assistance are readily available. Attendance is closely monitored, as unscheduled absences may jeopardize meeting customer requirements due to insufficient staffing.
