Job Summary:

As a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor with DeKalb County, you will oversee the day-to-day operations and staff involved in performing maintenance and repair services on County-owned vehicles and equipment. This role is safety sensitive and requires random drug testing in accordance with the County's Drug & Alcohol Policy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and direct assigned staff, developing and overseeing employee work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and control.
  • Compile and review timesheets, approve/process employee concerns and problems, and counsel or discipline as appropriate.
  • Assist with or complete employee performance appraisals, direct work, and act as a liaison between employees and management.
  • Organize, prioritize, and assign work, ensuring subordinates have the proper resources needed to complete assigned work.
  • Schedule and assign preventive maintenance work and on-demand repairs, identifying units with preventive maintenance work or inspections due.
  • Monitor technicians' work and performance, ensuring work is completed in a timely manner and supporting technicians with advice and training as needed.
  • Order outside parts or service as needed, contact vendors to acquire part numbers and quotes, and process purchase requisitions and invoices.
  • Supervise inventory of vehicles, receiving, checking in, and recording new vehicles, and preparing retired vehicles for surplus sale or other disposition.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required, with vocational or technical training in automotive repair or fleet operations and maintenance.
  • Three years of experience in automotive maintenance and repair or fleet operations, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license, with some positions requiring a commercial driver's license (CDL) within six months of starting employment.
