Job Title: Operations Supervisor

OCI is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising operation technicians, ensuring the plant runs efficiently, and coordinating activities related to safety, process training, shift assignments, inventory, production scheduling, quality, and environmental activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and prioritize work among teams to ensure safety compliance, environmental compliance, quality assurance, production demands, and cost optimization.
  • Communicate activities, goals, and targets during work shifts and at shift changes.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, including safety requirements and team discipline.
  • Promptly inform managers of problems or unusual matters and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Recommend and perform supervisory functions to effectively manage personnel assigned.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all employees to foster a cooperative and harmonious working climate.
  • Communicate with Maintenance to ensure complete understanding of work requests.
  • Oversee work order tracking and issuing.
  • Oversee monitoring of equipment, process conditions, DCS, and data.
  • Continuously improve through procedure updates and SPC.
  • Understand the relationship of data to process conditions upstream and downstream.
  • Maintain excellent communication with chemical technicians, maintenance technicians, and contractors during start-up, shutdown, troubleshooting, and normal operations.
  • Act as an active liaison to contractors, including expulsion from the site if necessary.
  • Continuously monitor equipment, process conditions, and data.
  • Stop any activity that could result in an injury to personnel or harm to the environment.
  • Identify potential problems through experience and investigate out-of-control processes.
  • Complete other duties assigned by Site Management.
Requirements:
  • Internal candidates should be qualified as a Material Handler, Field Technician, Lab Technician, and Control Board Operator.
  • External candidates should have a bachelor's degree in chemistry and/or business and 2+ years of experience as a supervisor in a chemical manufacturing plant.
  • Good communication skills, including written and verbal assignments.
  • Demonstrate competent computer skills.
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to climb 5-10 flights of stairs multiple times.
  • Must be able to climb ladders (multiple rungs) both fixed and portable.
  • Must be able to sustain overhead reaching, bending, squatting, twisting.
  • Must be able to sustain continuous sitting and standing.
  • Must be able to lift ~50 lb, pull, and push tools/equipment with ease.
  • Must be able to work in outside elements (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc).
  • Must be able to walk without assistance on various work surfaces (gravel, concrete, asphalt, grating, dirt).
  • Must be able to verbally communicate via radio.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE (hard hat, eye protection, face shield, hearing protection, gloves, chemical suits, steel-toed shoes, fall arrest).
