Aircraft Structures Lead Mechanic

Job Summary:
The Lead Aircraft Structures Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and inspection of aircraft structural components. This role involves conducting thorough inspections, identifying defects, and taking corrective action as needed. The lead mechanic consults manuals and specifications to guide repairs, supervises the installation of new parts, and ensures the precision of sheet metal repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and perform regular maintenance on aircraft structural components.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of records for maintenance, repairs, inspections, and services.
- Conduct thorough inspections and examinations of various structural components.
- Consult maintenance manuals and specifications to ensure all repairs and replacements follow correct operational procedures.
- Supervise and perform the installation of new parts.
- Oversee sheet metal repairs.
- Identify and resolve structural issues based on inspections or reports from Airside MRO customers.
- Document and manage all records related to inspections, repairs, and reassembly of structural components.
- Ensure strict adherence to Federal, Airside MRO, and OSHA regulations throughout all maintenance activities.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior mechanics.
Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of aircraft structural components, systems, and parts.
- Comprehensive understanding of tools and testing methods used to ensure the functionality and integrity of structural components.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software for maintaining and managing detailed records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance.
- Exceptional attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
- Expert ability to interpret technical documentation, including Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs), drawings, and specifications.
- Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Strong ability to conduct inspections and perform repairs.
- Adaptability to learn new skills and repair methods.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to superior craftsmanship.
Education, Experience, and Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A&P license preferred.
- Part 145 Repair Station experience preferred.
