Position Overview:
MasTec Inc. is in search of a Lead Estimator to oversee comprehensive project cost assessments for our operations. This role will serve as the primary estimating authority on a variety of civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
Duties encompass participation in pre-bid meetings as required, conducting site inspections, managing bids, formulating cost estimates, analyzing subcontractor and supplier pricing, and performing risk assessments.

Support will be provided by junior estimators who will assist with quantity takeoff evaluations and an estimating coordinator responsible for managing solicitations to subcontractors and vendors, as well as ensuring compliance with qualification requirements and minority participation documentation.

Our Estimating Team thrives in a collaborative setting, benefiting from the insights and support of our Operations Team. We emphasize a strong work ethic while promoting a healthy work-life balance. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in civil construction estimating.

The candidate should demonstrate a solid understanding of roadway construction, excavation, underground utilities, contractual obligations, conceptual estimating, design documentation, and project specifications.

Expertise in risk analysis and proven estimating experience across various markets and geographic areas is essential, with a preference for local experience.

This role includes a bonus structure, relocation support, vehicle allowance, fuel card, and toll tag.

Location & Travel:
This position is primarily onsite, with potential for hybrid work arrangements evaluated on a case-by-case basis following an initial assessment.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs.
- Define project scope for both self-performed and subcontracted work.
- Analyze project documents to create clear, comprehensive, and competitive estimates, general conditions, and bid clarifications.
- Communicate project requirements and owner directives to preconstruction staff, devising a plan to achieve outlined objectives.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Develop value engineering strategies to align with client budgets.
- Identify and assess subcontractors.
- Participate in preconstruction meetings with the design team and client.
- Address design gaps with assumptions that align with the engineer's intent.
- Prepare project clarifications and bid assumptions for client submission.
- Investigate local market conditions and their influence on costs.
- Organize and coordinate effectively.
- Attend technical and professional meetings and seminars as necessary.
- Establish timelines and objectives for timely estimate submissions.
- Represent company vision when engaging with potential clients, detailing MasTec's capabilities.
- Ensure service quality meets project specifications.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration on estimates among all disciplines and stakeholders.
- Provide risk and cost comparison analysis on estimates.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent progressive experience with 7+ years in estimating civil construction projects, or 10+ years of experience in lieu of formal education.
- Proven knowledge of heavy civil construction, particularly in earthwork, underground utilities, drainage, and street/highway construction.
- Experience with self-perform work.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
- Preferred experience with Agtek earthwork take-off software and HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of $130K to $155K/year, based on experience.
- Up to 25% annual bonus, contingent on personal and company performance.
