Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Learning: Deliver high-quality mathematics instruction to middle school students, using a range of culturally responsive pedagogical strategies to support all students in reaching high levels of academic and social-emotional growth and achievement.
- Curriculum Development: Intellectually prepare and internalize our shared curriculum, creating thoughtful and engaging unit and lesson plans that meet the needs of all students.
- Assessment and Data Analysis: Administer and grade assessments, analyzing and acting on data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.
- Classroom Management: Foster a positive classroom culture, using the Responsive Classroom approach to cultivate a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with colleagues across content areas and grade levels, attending and actively participating in all meetings, including PLCs, grade-level meetings, and PD sessions.
- Parent Communication: Conduct parent-teacher conferences as needed, maintaining ongoing parent communication to ensure student success.
- Student Safety and Supervision: Ensure the safety of students at all times, assisting with non-instructional supervision, such as arrival/dismissal, hallway monitoring, and extracurricular activities.
- Education and Certification: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Education preferred. New York State Teaching Certification preferred.
- Experience: Classroom teaching experience required; 2 years preferred.
- Skills and Abilities: Exceptional communication skills, math content and pedagogical knowledge, detail-oriented and highly organized, ability to cultivate a positive classroom culture, and commitment to equity and excellence.
