Our Surgical LVT will embark on their journey with Ethos by receiving comprehensive training in our Emergency department for the initial weeks before transitioning to our exceptional Surgery team.

- Collect diagnostic samples, imaging, and non-laboratory diagnostics (BP, EKG, SPO2) for analysis while understanding normal parameter markers to assist in the next steps of diagnostic preparation and communication with Veterinarians.
- Ensure proper procedures for collecting and submitting diagnostic samples to external laboratories.
- Support Veterinarians during surgical procedures, including developing anesthetic protocols, administering pre-medications and induction agents, intubation, surgical preparation, maintenance and monitoring of general anesthesia, assisting in surgical procedures as necessary, and providing recovery care for patients post-anesthesia.
- Calculate, create, and administer constant rate infusions such as Dopamine CRIs, Fentanyl CRIs, Lidocaine CRIs, and more.
- Exhibit patient and empathetic client service skills when communicating with clients throughout their visit, including triaging, discharging, or providing medical updates on hospitalized patients.
- Properly discharge patients by filling all required medications, ensuring patients are clean and comfortable, removing intravenous catheters, approving final invoices, and reviewing discharges with pet owners.
- Credentialed veterinary technician with strong technical skills (including placing IV catheters, venipuncture, administering premedication, anesthesia induction & monitoring, patient preparation, surgical nursing, and perioperative nursing care, radiographs, etc.)
- You can adapt easily to the varying needs of each patient and maintain composure during stressful and emotional situations.
