Role Overview

As a CPU Physical Design Engineer at Apple, you will play a critical role in driving the design and development of cutting-edge CPU blocks. This position requires a strong background in logic design, digital circuits, and physical design techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive RTL-to-GDS design convergence through logic synthesis and place-and-route tools, targeting ambitious PPA goals.
  • Responsible for block-level physical design delivery, including closure of backend flows, electrical requirements, and improving silicon yield.
  • Collaborate with internal CAD and PD methodology teams on industry-standard synthesis/PNR tool features and optimizations.
  • Work with cross-functional top-level teams on CPU floorplan, timing, power, reliability, and testability.
  • Collaborate with custom IP teams to define and co-optimize memory macros and library standard cells.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with logic design and digital circuits.
  • Experience in low-power, high-frequency physical design techniques and industry-standard tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and/or lead a physical design partition in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
