Role Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for executing specialized nursing procedures and delivering essential care to assigned patients under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Doctor (MD), adhering to established protocols. The LPN actively contributes to the planning and delivery of patient care, applying knowledge of aseptic techniques in various treatments, including sterile dressings and cauterizations. This role also involves providing direction to support staff.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree or a combination of education and relevant experience: Preferred
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification for Health Care Providers: Required
  • Arrhythmia certification: Preferred
  • Valid Driver's License and must be at least 21 years of age: Required
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse (LVN/LPN): Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver care to assigned patients under the supervision of an RN, following established standards and nursing processes.
  • Conduct admission assessments and ongoing evaluations in accordance with departmental policies. Assist in formulating a prioritized interdisciplinary care plan for each patient.
  • Implement and coordinate the care plan utilizing effective organizational skills and communication channels. Develop individualized teaching plans, including Patient Teaching Protocols and discharge plans, focusing on collaborative goal setting and patient empowerment.
  • Perform clinical procedures as assigned (e.g., phlebotomy, injections, drug screenings) and administer medications.
  • Manage inventory by ordering and restocking supplies as necessary, maintaining cleanliness in assigned areas.
  • Fulfill additional job-related responsibilities as required.
