About the Role

The Fertilizer Manager is a key position at Helena Agri, responsible for overseeing the fertilizer operations team and ensuring the smooth execution of fertilizer-related activities. This role requires a strong understanding of fertilizer products, blending, logistics, and marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchase and manage fertilizer inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels and minimizing waste.
  • Coordinate bulk storage and tank farm operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Direct the blending of liquid and dry fertilizers, optimizing product quality and efficiency.
  • Analyze product profitability and optimize the use of company-owned equipment.
  • Assist the branch manager in developing marketing plans to maximize fertilizer income.
  • Provide technical training to the branch sales team, enhancing their knowledge of fertilizer products and marketing strategies.
  • May be required to drive a company vehicle as needed, ensuring safe and efficient transportation of personnel and equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of relevant work experience in fertilizer operations, logistics, or a related field.
  • Thorough understanding of fertilizer products, blending, logistics, and marketing strategies.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license required.
Preferred Skills
  • Leadership experience, with a proven track record of managing teams and driving results.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other productivity software.
  • Knowledge of small engine and pump repair, as well as welding experience.
  • Marketing experience, with a focus on fertilizer products and services.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

The Fertilizer Manager will work in a typical warehouse and distribution environment, with moderate to loud noise levels and occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, and electrical shock. The role requires regular use of hands for various tasks, as well as talking, hearing, walking, standing, and sitting. Lifting or moving up to 100 pounds may be required.
