Key Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing a caseload of around 200 alumni, providing guidance focused on college retention, completion, and career preparedness.
  • Facilitating the transition to higher education through preparatory courses for juniors and seniors, personalized advising, and family consultations.
  • Establishing connections with campus support services, including financial aid, counseling, and career resources, to assist students in navigating their college experience.
  • Instructing students who are struggling academically on how to seek assistance and enhance their performance through workshops or individualized tutoring.
  • Guiding students and families in comprehending financial aid options through personalized meetings, workshops, and informational sessions.
  • Coordinating events, job shadowing, and campus tours to instill the importance of pursuing higher education.
  • Conducting meetings with students and parents during the college application phase to identify resources that help in making informed decisions.
  • Visiting alumni at their respective colleges or workplaces to provide ongoing support and maintain connections to our mission.
  • Attending college fairs and events to build relationships with educational institutions, ensuring access and opportunities for our scholars.
  • Creating a post-secondary plan for students who do not enroll in college.
  • Monitoring alumni progress and maintaining data (contact details, academic performance, financial aid, scholarships, etc.) using relevant tracking systems to identify trends and enhance practices.
  • Teaching classes to seniors in the fall and juniors in the spring focused on college and career readiness, including topics such as character development, writing skills, identity growth, and financial literacy.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, including overnight trips.
Accountability:
  • Providing alumni with consistent updates on scholarship opportunities and organizations dedicated to college success to reduce financial burdens.
  • Assisting students in preparing for the transition to the workforce or graduate studies upon completing their degrees.
  • Creating opportunities for alumni to mentor high school students, fostering a culture of college attendance.
  • Researching and supporting alumni in securing summer internships and programs.
  • Identifying and promoting career pathways for alumni.
  • Conducting transition planning meetings for students entering high school with individualized education plans.
  • Ensuring that student-athletes meet the necessary criteria for NCAA eligibility.
  • Providing feedback to the organization regarding academic standards, school environment, and counseling services.
  • Presenting data on alumni persistence to leadership and board members.
  • Organizing at least two alumni engagement events annually.
  • Ensuring that the College and Career Coordinator maintains updated records for all alumni.
  • Writing and submitting letters of recommendation for students to educational institutions.
  • Reviewing and updating the comprehensive College Prep curriculum for grades 11 and 12.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is required.

Teaching certification is advantageous.

Compensation:

$68,500-$98,500
