About the Organisation

The Department of Education is on a mission to establish 50 government-operated early learning centres by 2032, as part of the Best Start, Best Life reforms. These centres will provide high-quality, accessible, and inclusive early childhood education and care, focusing on child-centered learning through play and nature, while fostering strong community connections.

Role Overview

The Centre Administrator will play a vital role in supporting the operational setup of the Early Learning Centre. This position is crucial for managing administrative functions, including communications, payroll, enrolments, attendance, and Child Care Subsidy systems. You will be the first point of contact for families, welcoming visitors and addressing inquiries via phone, email, and in person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the central office to prepare for the centre's launch.
  • Provide guidance and support to families regarding enrolment and general centre operations.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with families, colleagues, and suppliers.
  • Perform data entry into management systems and assist with payroll processes.
  • Handle payment processing efficiently.
  • Manage incoming calls, ensuring professional and timely responses.
  • Oversee centre security, including monitoring entrances and exits.
  • Execute various administrative tasks, including team planning and communications.
  • Adhere to regulations and organisational policies and procedures.

Required Experience

  • Previous administrative experience, preferably within the early childhood sector.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and adherence to organisational policies.
  • Proficiency in administrative software, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organisational abilities, including time management and multitasking.

Qualifications

  • A qualification in business administration or a related field is highly regarded.
  • A Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or higher is advantageous.
  • Current Police and Working with Children's Checks are required.
