Job Title: Patient Access Specialist

Ensemble Health Partners is seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Specialist to join our team. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of patients through our healthcare system.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assign accurate Medical Record Numbers (MRNs) and complete medical necessity/compliance checks to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and families, answering questions and addressing concerns in a compassionate and empathetic manner.
  • Operate the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls as applicable.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain high-quality patient care.
  • Pre-register patients before their visits, collecting demographic, insurance, and other necessary information to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement.
  • Explain general consent for treatment forms to patients/guarantors/legal guardians and obtain necessary signatures and witness names.
  • Review eligibility responses in the insurance verification system and select the applicable insurance plan code, entering benefit data into the system to support point-of-service collections and billing processes.
  • Screen medical necessity using the Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software to inform Medicare patients of potential non-payment of tests by Medicare and distribute the ABN as appropriate.
  • Conduct audits of accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness, providing statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • 1+ years of customer service experience preferred.
