Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the Sales Associate is to greet and assist customers, ensuring an outstanding customer experience. This role involves understanding various product categories to effectively address customer inquiries and recommend suitable items for their projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Respond to customer inquiries regarding products and assist in selecting the right items for their needs.
- Build and nurture relationships with existing customers, addressing their needs and concerns promptly.
- Establish connections with potential clients to understand their requirements and offer customized solutions.
- Maintain a solid understanding of our product offerings to assist customers with project estimates.
- Encourage additional sales by upselling products during transactions.
- Process customer orders efficiently.
- Handle payments and returns with accuracy.
- Collaborate with the sales team on larger quotes and estimates as needed.
- Work alongside inside sales to enhance sales to existing accounts.
- Keep the showroom, samples, and literature organized and up-to-date.
- Stock shelves with incoming merchandise and maintain assigned areas.
- Assist with inventory counts and ensure system information is accurate.
- Communicate effectively with customers and team members.
- Address customer challenges, including credits, returns, exchanges, and service issues.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all products available to customers.
- Possess a basic understanding of construction methods.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of sales experience preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
- Understanding of the contractor sales process is beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Point of Sale systems.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and perform tasks that may involve bending or standing on a stool. The role may involve exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and may require standing or walking for extended periods. Occasionally, the role may involve lifting up to 80 pounds and frequently lifting up to 50 pounds.
