ABOUT THE ROLE

The Chief People Operations Officer will oversee all aspects of human resources within our organization. This pivotal role encompasses a variety of functions, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, payroll management, employee benefits administration, talent acquisition, and overall human resources governance. This position will operate during standard business hours and will supervise the People Operations Specialist, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Human Resources Strategy and Policies

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to formulate and execute a comprehensive Human Resources strategy.
  • Regularly review and revise personnel policies to align with best practices and organizational needs.
  • Maintain a position control system to monitor staffing levels and ensure alignment with budgetary constraints.

Payroll and Benefits Management

  • Oversee the complete payroll cycle and ensure accuracy in payroll processing.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee benefits, facilitating staff education on retirement and health benefits.
  • Conduct annual evaluations of benefit programs and collaborate with brokers to secure competitive insurance options.

Human Resources Functions

  • Manage the recruitment and onboarding processes for new employees.
  • Develop an off-boarding checklist and implement procedures for staff exits.
  • Establish a comprehensive evaluation system to promote continuous improvement among staff.
  • Assist supervisors in identifying training needs and coordinating professional development opportunities.

Talent Management and Recruitment

  • Design and implement a strategic approach to talent recruitment and retention.
  • Work with external partners to manage all recruitment and hiring processes.
  • Stay informed on compensation trends to ensure competitive salary and benefits offerings.

Compliance and Administration

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant laws and regulations in human resources and employment practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices in human resources.
  • Organize and manage all operational documents related to employment and compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a Master’s degree preferred. Candidates should possess a minimum of five years of experience in human resources management within a non-profit or educational setting. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
