Position Overview

GS-12 Requirements:
In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this role, candidates must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must include:

  • Analyzing and designing fire protection systems for various facilities.
  • Interpreting and applying relevant codes, standards, regulations, and policies, including Building and Fire codes.
  • Preparing and reviewing outlines of services, scopes of work, construction estimates, and engineering fee estimates for Architect-Engineer contracts.
  • Preparing and reviewing calculations, cost estimates, project documents, reports, and designs for technical adequacy and adherence to engineering practices.

GS-11 Requirements:
In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this role, candidates must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must include:

  • Reviewing and inspecting fire protection systems for various facilities.
  • Applying relevant codes, standards, regulations, and policies, including Building and Fire codes.
  • Assisting with engineering calculations, cost estimates, project documents, reports, and designs.
  • Alternatively, candidates may qualify with three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or a combination of experience and graduate education that equates to one year of experience.
