Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine residential, commercial, and industrial fire incidents involving fire protection or life safety systems, including various fire sprinkler systems, kitchen fire protection, special hazard suppression systems, and fire detection systems.
  • Conduct field assessments and perform forensic engineering analyses on incidents related to fire protection systems.
  • Evaluate post-incident scenarios focusing on fire spread and evacuation routes.
  • Advise clients on relevant building and life safety regulations.
  • Carry out impartial investigations for diverse clients.
  • Foster and maintain client relationships.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly in both verbal and written formats.
  • Support conclusions with expert testimony in legal contexts.
  • Deliver professional presentations and engage with client groups.
  • Enhance professional knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and participation in industry organizations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering is required.
  • Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration or the ability to obtain it.
  • IAAI-CFI or CFEI certifications or the ability to obtain them.
  • Experience in fire investigation or a strong desire to learn is essential.
  • Familiarity with fire protection systems, building construction, and applicable codes.
  • Experience with fire modeling is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the fire protection engineering sector.
  • Forensic experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and writing skills are required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Ability to navigate accident sites safely.
  • Capability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Flexibility to travel to various locations as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment as required.
