Position Overview

This public notice serves to inform potential candidates about upcoming job opportunities within the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command. Qualifications

GS-12 Level: To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the Basic Education Requirements and demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in federal service or comparable experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience should include:

  • Designing and analyzing fire protection systems across various facilities.
  • Interpreting and applying relevant codes, standards, regulations, and policies, including Building and Fire codes.
  • Preparing and reviewing scopes of work, construction estimates, and engineering fee proposals for Architect-Engineer contracts.
  • Conducting calculations, cost estimates, project documentation, reports, and designs to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to engineering practices.

GS-11 Level: Candidates must also meet the Basic Education Requirements and demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in federal service or relevant experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience should include:

  • Reviewing and inspecting fire protection systems for various facilities.
  • Applying codes, standards, regulations, and policies, including Building and Fire codes.
  • Assisting in engineering calculations, cost estimates, project documentation, reports, and designs.

Alternatively, candidates may qualify with three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or a combination of experience and graduate education that equates to one year of experience.
