Fire Safety Systems Engineer

QualificationsGS-12 Level: To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the Basic Education Requirements and demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in federal service or comparable experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience should include:
- Designing and analyzing fire protection systems across various facilities.
- Interpreting and applying relevant codes, standards, regulations, and policies, including Building and Fire codes.
- Preparing and reviewing scopes of work, construction estimates, and engineering fee proposals for Architect-Engineer contracts.
- Conducting calculations, cost estimates, project documentation, reports, and designs to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to engineering practices.
GS-11 Level: Candidates must also meet the Basic Education Requirements and demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in federal service or relevant experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience should include:
- Reviewing and inspecting fire protection systems for various facilities.
- Applying codes, standards, regulations, and policies, including Building and Fire codes.
- Assisting in engineering calculations, cost estimates, project documentation, reports, and designs.
Alternatively, candidates may qualify with three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or a combination of experience and graduate education that equates to one year of experience.
For additional qualification information, please refer to the Office of Personnel Management website. Experience includes both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer roles through National Service programs, which can provide valuable skills and training applicable to paid employment.
