Job Summary

As a Sterile Processing Manager at Kaiser Permanente, you will oversee the services and departments responsible for providing patient care equipment and surgical instrumentation reprocessing functions. This includes collection, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection, and distribution. You will also manage the surgical instrument inventory and supplies, ensuring departmental activities run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise SPD technicians and staff to achieve operational performance and quality goals.
  • Manage all aspects of sterile processing, including collection, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection, distribution, and inventory management.
  • Maintain continued education and proficiency in Sterile Processing operations and equipment.
  • Serve as a technical expert regarding product reprocessing, decontamination, and sterilization.
  • Ensure optimal sterile processing performance through quality control and quality assurance.
  • Monitor and report equipment operational status, recommending changes and upgrades as needed.
  • Assure departmental standards of operation and policies are in compliance with regulatory and professional agencies.
  • Facilitate staff recruitment and selection, providing ongoing feedback and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement departmental orientation and training programs.
  • Manage labor and expense budgets, maintaining reports and submitting department budgets.
Requirements
  • Minimum three years of experience in an acute or ambulatory-care sterile processing department.
  • Minimum one year of supervisory experience.
  • Minimum one year of experience in preparing for local, state, and/or federal survey and/or The Joint Commission.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Manufacturing, Health Care Administration, Public Health, or Health Sciences.
