Position Overview

AECOM is looking for a skilled Project Controls Specialist to assist our architecture and engineering teams in Ohio. This role offers flexibility, allowing for remote, hybrid, or on-site work based on the candidate's preference.

As a Project Controls Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all assigned client projects meet their financial, scheduling, and performance objectives as outlined in client contracts and AECOM's internal standards. You will have the opportunity to engage in various projects managed by our Ohio teams, including several large-scale initiatives across the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate attention to detail, efficiency, and organizational skills.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple competing project demands effectively.
  • Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel skills for project tracking and reporting.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with team members.
  • Lead the project controls function across a diverse portfolio of projects.
  • Analyze performance trends, prepare cost impact assessments, and generate monthly project performance reports.
  • Compile regular cost reports, tracking actual and committed costs against budgets.
  • Establish project budgets from proposal estimates and assist in project setup and execution.
  • Develop effective Work Breakdown Structures in collaboration with project personnel.
  • Communicate budget, cost, and schedule analysis results with project managers and leaders.
  • Facilitate meetings with internal teams and finance departments.
  • Support project managers in procurement processes and monitor subcontractor spending.
  • Assist with Salesforce updates and entries.
  • Learn and apply basic Federal Contract Requirements to support project managers.
  • Engage with subcontractors regarding project progress and contract administration.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators, including earned value and project timelines.
  • Ensure high-quality data metrics for project forecasts and estimates.
  • Review client invoices for accuracy and establish invoicing schedules.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports for clients.
  • Understand client contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Communicate with clients regarding invoicing and reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 6 years of relevant experience in project controls or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the projects supported.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant project controls experience in engineering or construction management.
  • In-depth knowledge of project planning, scheduling methods, and earned value management.
