Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is looking for a dedicated Part-Time After Hours TDO Coordinator to join our team at Western State Hospital. This role is essential in providing support to the Primary Coordinators during after-hours operations in the Admissions Office. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will primarily focus on coordinating TDO admissions to our facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming and recovery-oriented atmosphere for newly admitted patients during the registration and admission process.
  • Handle referral calls from Community Services Boards (CSBs), assess referral needs, and suggest alternative placement options and resources.
  • Initiate and maintain documentation on referral screenings.
  • Act as a liaison between Western State Hospital and other facilities, staff, and collaborative resources.
  • Assign appropriate units for patients based on their clinical requirements.
  • Assist nursing staff in verifying legal documentation.
  • Complete the admission and registration of new patients in various databases.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working with individuals facing serious mental health challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and make critical decisions.
  • Proficiency in computer systems within a healthcare environment, including CSBs, hospitals, or outpatient clinics.
  • Flexibility to work primarily during the third shift.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and related software interfaces.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a human services field.
  • Familiarity with community resources available for the seriously mentally ill population.
  • Understanding of Substance Use Disorders and community-based treatment options.
  • Knowledge of programming security access systems.
