Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Support Specialist to join our team at the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department. As a key member of our Records Office, you will provide administrative support to our team, ensuring the smooth operation of our office and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Records Office, including preparing correspondence, reports, and memoranda
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and filing systems
  • Research information and exercise independent judgment to ensure relevance to assigned tasks
  • Process discharges, bails, purges, and sentence revisions with accuracy
  • Conduct CJIS/LEAPS queries and analyze data to prepare packets for submissions
  • Provide general administrative and secretarial support to the team
Requirements
  • High school graduate (diploma or GED)
  • Ability to use Microsoft 98 (or later version) and generate Excel spreadsheets
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records and files
  • Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of general office practices and procedures
  • Demonstrate flexibility and ability to learn and perform new duties and skills as assigned
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires regular attendance and the ability to sit or stand for 8 hours. The successful candidate will be required to lift up to 5 pounds, carry up to 5 pounds, and climb stairs occasionally.
