Job Title: Vice President of Quality

Berner Food & Beverage is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Vice President of Quality to lead our quality assurance and compliance efforts. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across our diverse portfolio of food and beverage customers and products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all areas of quality, including assurance, compliance, technical services, and food safety initiatives.
  • Develop and implement proactive approaches to quality standards and procedures to meet company needs and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior quality representatives from customers, vendors, and collaborators.
  • Implement a governance plan to ensure effective communication and decision-making on quality-related topics.
  • Provide advice and consultation to C-Level Executives on key quality issues and strategic decisions.
  • Develop and manage the quality operational budget to ensure compliance with approved expense limitations.
  • Focus on continuous improvement for the quality department by evaluating existing programs and recommending new initiatives.
  • Oversee internal and external inspections, regulatory visits, and audits.
  • Ensure customer relationships are maintained and audited as required.
  • Participate in audit preparation activities and complete necessary reports.
  • Perform follow-up activities on non-conformances and respond accordingly.
  • Plan, define, and direct the site auditing control program to ensure compliance with regulatory, federal, and local laws.
  • Provide oversight and leadership of the quality department.
  • Manage the execution of the site food safety quality program and HACCP programs.
  • Monitor and maintain the plant QCMS program in compliance with current Berner and SQF standards.
  • Ensure all internal quality procedures and processes are accurate and performing to expectations.
  • Collaborate with other leadership teams to ensure effective and safe commercialization of new materials.
  • Ensure cross-functional teams and vendors are aligned on food safety and quality plans.
  • Provide coaching and support to direct and indirect reports to ensure teams are motivated and delivering results.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in quality assurance and compliance in food manufacturing or other technical environments.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or a related field.
  • Strong leadership, technical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Knowledge of statistical processes and quality systems.
  • Effective communication and planning skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional groups and build strong relationships.
