Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director of Financial Aid to join our team at Minnesota State. This is a full-time, unclassified position that will provide leadership and expertise in the functions of the Financial Aid Office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management for the Financial Aid Office, including supervision of staff and coordination of office operations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the department's website and provide administrative support to the Director.
  • Coordinate and oversee the functions of the Financial Aid Office, including processing and verifying student financial aid applications.
  • Provide high-quality, student-centered assistance to applicants, students, and their families, including advising and counseling on financial aid options.
  • Develop and deliver public presentations to both small and large audiences on financial aid topics.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial aid policies and procedures.
  • Provide expertise in assessing student needs and coordinating services to retain students.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in federal and state financial aid regulations and ensure compliance.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or higher in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a college or university financial aid office or in advocating for students and families as they navigate financial aid processes.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with confidential materials.
  • Experience in developing and delivering public presentations to both small and large audiences.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and database management software.
  • Commitment to diversity and ability to work successfully with persons of diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid rules and regulations.
  • Expertise in assessing student needs and coordinating services to retain students.
  • Knowledge of ISRS, COD, CPS, NSLDS, and other financial aid related websites and software.
  • Previous experience working with R2T4, Satisfactory Academic Progress, and reconciliation of federal and state accounts.
  • Familiarity with Minnesota State College and University system and RCTC policies and procedures.
