About the Role

Spectrum's Product and Technology team is seeking a highly skilled Security Engineer III to join our Information Security Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for monitoring, detecting, and alerting on potential security threats and vulnerabilities to our telecommunications data and database security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain database security controls
  • Perform database security assessments and vulnerability scanning
  • Develop and implement data protection policies and procedures
  • Monitor database systems for security threats and incidents
  • Participate in incident response activities
  • Stay current on database security best practices and emerging threats
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in IT/network and information security
  • 5+ years of experience in information security operations
  • Demonstrated experience in handling information security events and incidents for large and sophisticated networks
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or related field or equivalent experience
  • Expert knowledge of network and system security vulnerabilities and exploits
  • Demonstrated understanding of what is required to prevent security exploits, how to detect security attacks and anomalies, and how to respond to security incidents and intrusions
Preferred Qualifications
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or equivalent
  • Advanced security certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), or similar
  • Expertise in database security and data loss prevention techniques
  • 3-5 years of experience working with Linux operating systems
  • 3-5 years of experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
