Position Overview

Organization: Fort Meade Volunteer Firefighters Association Inc.

Opportunity: This is a general interest position for individuals looking to contribute to the community as a Fire Service Support Volunteer.

The Fire Service Support Volunteer role presents an excellent chance for non-certified individuals to engage in support activities both at the fire station and during emergency responses. Volunteers in this capacity do not enter hazardous environments, commonly referred to as "Hot Zones." Instead, they assist with essential tasks such as:

  • Firefighter rehabilitation
  • Equipment setup and management
  • Supporting the incident commander

Additionally, volunteers may take part in training sessions, educational classes, and community outreach events that do not involve high-risk scenarios.

We are particularly interested in candidates residing in the City of Fort Meade who aspire to become Volunteer Firefighters. The City will facilitate training to obtain the Volunteer Firefighter Certificate of Completion. New recruits must fulfill the required 196 hours of initial training to achieve their compliance certificate within one year of joining.
