Job Title: Fire Alarm Apprentice

Job Summary:

The Fire Alarm Apprentice will assist the Fire Alarm Superintendent in the installation of fire alarm systems. This role is ideal for individuals who are eager to learn and develop their skills in the fire protection industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation of fire alarm systems, including conduit, low voltage wiring, control panels, and other equipment.
  • Keep tools and equipment in good working condition and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of job sites, tools, and equipment.
  • Learn and develop working knowledge of fire alarm and special hazards installation under the guidance of experienced technicians.
  • Read and learn NFPA 72 and NEC 70 to obtain NICET Certification and advance in the field.
  • Understand and follow Summit Fire & Security's Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in weekly Toolbox talks and maintain awareness of safety documentation on each project.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Fire Alarm Superintendent or project lead.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0 years of experience in the Fire Life Safety Industry, specifically in Fire Alarm, required.
  • 1+ years of professional computer skills.
  • Ability to learn and develop skills to advance to a Fire Alarm & Security Technician role.
  • Must comply with Summit Fire & Security's Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements.
  • Efficient time management skills, developed organizational skills, and ability to prioritize initiatives and business goals.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Collaborator and ability to work with all levels of employees.
  • Strong diligence and accuracy.

Communication Skills:

  • Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English with employees and customers.

Other Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Must comply with Summit Fire & Security's Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements.
  • Ability to travel 90% of the time, locally.
