Career Development Program

Smithfield Foods is seeking recent college graduates to participate in the Career Foundation Program, a comprehensive development experience designed to foster growth and advancement within the company.
Program DetailsThe Career Foundation Program is a 18-24 month rotational program that provides participants with the opportunity to explore various functional areas of the business, including business, commodities, corporate finance, demand planning, distribution, field HR, fresh sales, grain procurement, hog procurement, industrial engineering, IT engineering, marketing, operations, operations finance, procurement, transformation, and transportation.
Throughout the program, participants will work closely with senior leaders, managers, mentors, and program managers to develop their skills and knowledge, and will have the opportunity to contribute to the goals of each department to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities- Assist in problem-solving and assume leadership roles for certain projects
- Help departments achieve both short and long-term objectives
- Deliver high-level results that exceed expectations
- Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university
- Currently enrolled college student with an anticipated graduation by end of current semester
- Ability to relocate one to two times during rotation
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to self-manage time from remote locations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Travel up to 15-25% of time
- Valid state driver license with acceptable driving record
The work environment will include office, facility, and laboratory settings, with occasional travel by car and aircraft. Participants will be expected to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and will be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
