About the Career Foundation Program

The Career Foundation Program (CFP) is a comprehensive development program designed to provide recent college graduates with a unique opportunity to explore career options and gain valuable work experience.

Program Overview

The CFP is a function-specific rotation program that allows participants to rotate through various departments within Smithfield Foods, gaining exposure to different aspects of the business.

Key Features
  • Rotations can last anywhere from 18-24 months, depending on the track
  • Participants will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, contributing to the goals of each department
  • Opportunities for leadership development, problem-solving, and project management
  • Guidance and support from senior leaders, managers, and mentors
  • Eligibility to apply for open positions within the company after 12 months
Requirements

To be eligible for the CFP, candidates must:

  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university
  • Be able to relocate one to two times during the rotation
  • Possess a high level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to self-manage time from remote locations
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Be willing to travel up to 15-25% of the time, with occasional overnight travel
  • Have a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Work Environment

CFP participants will work in a variety of environments, including office, facility, and laboratory settings. The work environment will include:

  • Lifting, stretching, bending, reaching, walking, and climbing
  • Travel by car and aircraft
  • Exposure to wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, and chemicals
