This position is based at Birch Cottage, with hours from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, subject to variation. A negative drug screening is a prerequisite for employment.
All personnel are expected to collaborate harmoniously with colleagues to ensure efficient and effective customer service. This role involves specialized professional responsibilities in planning, organizing, and facilitating leisure and social activities for individuals residing at PSH&TC. The work necessitates the application of specialized skills in activity coordination and training within a diverse leisure environment.
The essential functions of this role require the ability to provide direct support, which includes standing for extended periods, lifting, bending, and participating in routine household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and grocery shopping. The position also entails intervening to ensure safety, administering emergency first aid, de-escalating crisis situations, and preventing harm.
Effective communication with individuals using various methods (verbal, written, sign language, assistive technology) is crucial. Responsibilities include data collection and analysis, staff supervision, skill demonstration, and providing constructive feedback. Monitoring the activities of residents and staff, leading training sessions, and assisting individuals in accessing community services and activities are also key components of this role.
Qualifications:
Preferred Criteria:
- Four years of experience in recreation, athletics, music, or art. Relevant education may be considered.
- A lifesaving certification.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for staff operating a motor vehicle.
Positions in this category require candidates to pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services at the time of appointment. Additionally, successful candidates must clear a law enforcement security background check in compliance with Department of Aging and Disability Services policies.
